PlayhouseSquare Master Plan and Implementation
Westlake Reed Leskosky orchestrated a master plan for a theater district downtown that is now a major visitor attraction and economic
development catalyst for Cleveland. PlayhouseSquare attracts over 2,000,000 patrons annually to a wide variety of arts and entertainment events, injects new income into greater Cleveland, and has initiated a renaissance of development in the district with significant annual impact. Key to the master plan of the 60-acre site was the restoration, renovation, and reopening of PlayhouseSquare's magnificent 1920's theaters: the Palace, State, and Ohio. Westlake Reed Leskosky has been continuously involved in the development of this complex over thirty years. In addition to the renovation of the Palace, State, and Ohio theatres, the firm has designed restaurant and banquet facilities, a parking structure and central box office as well as the Arts and Education Center/Ideastream® broadcast facility, the Great Lakes Theater Festival facilities in the Hanna Theatre and is currently reconfiguring the Allen Theatre for use by the Cleveland Play House and Cleveland State University.
