Cleveland Institute of Music Renovation/Expansion
Westlake Reed Leskosky collaborated with Charles Young to renovate and expand the original Cleveland Institute of Music building, designed by our firm (then known as Schafer Flynn) in the1950's. The Cleveland Institute of Music is recognized as one of the premier music conservatories in the United States. Located on University Circle in the heart of the City's cultural district, the Cleveland Institute of Music facility features a renovated 750 seat concert hall (Kulas Hall).
The addition incorporates a dynamic curved fašade and entrance, with a landscaped garden flanking East Boulevard. The building houses a 250 seat recital hall, created to meet precise acoustic standards required for the level of clarity and evenness of sound required by the school. The hall is technologically equipped to be used for recording purposes. The facility includes space for the Kulas Center for International Music Education, containing new teaching spaces, student practice rooms and administrative offices.
