McBryde 100 Auditorium
Westlake Reed Leskosky designed the interior renovation of this 550-seat raked floor auditorium, which is the largest classroom assembly space on the main campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. The renovation addresses several deficiencies including accessibility compliance, life safety issues, aging infrastructure, aging technology and worn interior finishes and furnishings.
The renovation design includes a modified floor slab to improve accessibility throughout the space and to facilitate more integrated teaching methods for instructors and students. Modern teaching wall components will replace traditional white boards and projection systems. New seating systems, interior finishes, lighting and acoustical treatments are also planned. The project is being implemented in two phases: an AHU replacement in 2014 and the main renovation in 2015.
