CLEVELAND, OH (November 2014) Mitchell Clemente, CPD, Associate for Westlake Reed Leskosky with 35 years of experience in the field of engineering, was elected and sworn in as the national President of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE). He is also currently a Vice President on the organization's Research Foundation Board of Directors. He previously served for six (6) years on the ASPE Society Board of Directors in the positions of Region 2 Director, Vice President-Education and Vice President-Technical. Mitch has also been active in the Cleveland Chapter of ASPE as a member of the Board of Directors for ten (10) years, five (5) of which were as President. He currently sits on a number of Society Committees, including Technical & Research, Education, Finance, Convention, Symposium and CPD.
During his two (2)-year term as President of the ASPE, Mitch aims to focus on education and outreach. He plans to increase participation in the webinars and workshops offered by ASPE as he feels, "Engineers and designers will improve their knowledge through these programs and, as a result, become more informed and valuable professionals in the field of plumbing engineering." His outreach effort will include a program to encourage Chapter leaders to reach out to peers in their region and to explain the benefits of ASPE in an effort to boost membership.
As Director of Plumbing Engineering at Westlake Reed Leskosky for nearly a decade, Mitch works collaboratively within the firm's unique fully integrated, multi-disciplinary practice model providing leadership and expertise to projects spanning the firm's practice specialties, including Performing and Cultural Arts, Healthcare, Government, Education and Workplace. He has been a key contributor to the firm's engineering group and continues to be a strong advocate for the energy- and water-efficient design of systems for the built environment.
