Cleveland, Ohio ![]()
Status: Complete
The $51 million rehabilitation of the Metzenbaum U.S. Courthouse is an exemplary model for preservation and adaptive reuse of an historic landmark. Selected by the GSA under the Design Excellence program, Westlake Reed Leskosky renovated this national architectural treasure to meet new requirements for function, efficiency, accessibility, sustainability and security. LEED-certified in a groundbreaking approach integrating sustainability and preservation, the 235,600-square-foot building houses the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts with four courtrooms, chambers and support areas. The project features a five-level in-fill Light Court solving circulation issues, and the reinstallation of restored murals by American artist F.D. Millet.
