In the early 1980s, Westlake Reed Leskosky preserved the former U.S. Post Office and adapted it into a distinguished museum of photography and contemporary art. The Malrite Company, Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage
The successful design competition celebrates the Jewish experience in Northeast Ohio in an elegant, iconic home for a remarkable collection of Judaica and traveling exhibitions. A simple rectangle form houses main exhibits and auditorium and is accessed from a lobby accentuated by floor to ceiling glass. With minimalist simplicity, excellent materials and craftsmanship, the building is clad with Jerusalem limestone, evoking the texture of ancient city walls.
