School of Music Master Plan
Columbus , Ohio
Westlake Reed Leskosky was retained by Ohio State University in 2012 to re-calibrate a past comprehensive master plan for the School of Music. The re-setting of the plan included an assessment of the existing School of Music facilities, a programmatic needs assessment (based on sessions with staff, faculty, and students), the prioritization of programmatic needs, and the development of two planning scenarios.
The most pressing programmatic needs for the School included a 250-seat recital hall, large ensemble rehearsal spaces, teaching studios, and the accompanying technological and support spaces.
Two planning scenarios were pursued in order to arrive at a modest plan ($20 million) and more robust plan ($40 million).
Westlake Reed Leskosky was retained for this study after successfully completing a targeted and forensic renovation of the School's Hughes Hall facility, a building possessing many acoustically sensitive practice spaces.
