Pittsburgh Playhouse and Academic Complex
Westlake Reed Leskosky is the Design Architect for a new $52 million (total project cost) academic performing arts and media center addition / renovation for Point Park University's Pittsburgh Playhouse on its downtown Pittsburgh campus. This is the largest project ever undertaken by the University. Situated in an urban district including many landmark structures, the new work complements its historic setting, architecturally.
The project will provide three new theatres, including a 561- seat proscenium/thrust Mainstage theatre, a multi-form 212-seat "transformational theatre" and a 102- seat black box space. The project will also house a sound stage and sound editing suites, scenery shop, prop shop, paint shop, costume shop, television studio, cinema edit labs, screening room, scenic design and general classrooms, rehearsal halls, acting studios, classrooms, and faculty offices as well as public amenities such as lobbies, public toilets, concessions, ticket/business office and performer support.
